It’s December in Montréal, and at Café Ma Bicyclette, it’s one of our favourite moments of the year. We love easing into winter with festive drinks, community gatherings, and plenty of ways to shop small and support local makers. Here’s what’s happening by the Lachine Canal this month...
🎵 Friday 5 à 7 Live Music Series
We kicked things off last month with our weekly 5 à 7 live music evenings, a wonderful way to welcome the weekend. From bluegrass to traditional tunes, country-inspired sets and Québécois folk, these talented performers will have you tapping along over a pint or cocktail.
It’s our little gift to you, dear regulars and neighbours, a way to brighten the darker nights while supporting local musicians in our community.
While you’re here, try our special 5 à 7 snack menu, with festive drinks and delicious bites that pair perfectly with Friday night music by the canal.
🎶 5 December – Live Music with Mike Kennedy and Émile Hooper
We begin the month with Mike Kennedy and Émile Hooper on 5 December at 17h, bringing guitar, fiddle and local flavour to our canal-side café. A perfect early December evening for live music lovers and anyone looking for warm, festive vibes on a Friday night.
🛍️ 6 December – Mini Marché at the Café
Join us on 6 December, from 11h to 16h, for our second mini marché at the café. Two of our talented baristas and their artist friends will be showcasing their work, including Rainy Day Renegade, Sarah Penina, 6s and 7s and more.
It is the perfect stop for holiday gifts, especially for those on your list with an indie, artsy spirit. Expect prints, paintings, stickers, small objects and delightful novelties that will warm even the Grinchiest hearts.
And if you're still hunting for coffee lover gifts, we have MiiR thermal camp cups, sweatshirts, toques, cycling caps and, of course, your favourite Café Ma Bicyclette beans to take home.
🎉 10 December – Early Closure for Staff Party
On 10 December, we will close a little early for our staff holiday party. We cannot wait to celebrate this amazing team, and we know you agree they deserve it.

These shows carry us up to the winter solstice and holiday time, with festive drinks, delicious bites and that classic canal-side glow.
❤️ Giving Back – Donations for Share the Warmth
This season is also a time to give back. We are collecting canned goods and donations for Share the Warmth, Partageons l’Espoir, our Pointe Saint Charles organization dedicated to fighting food insecurity and supporting our neighbours.
Even a small donation goes a long way, as their partners can sometimes multiply contributions up to 5x in value. Tax receipts are available for online contributions. If your cup feels full enough to pour from, please consider supporting our holiday donation drive online, or dropping off canned goods during your next coffee stop.

Our winter break starts 22 December, and we will reopen to welcome 2026 on 2 January. Until then, we are here seven snowy days a week for:
