Café Ma Bicyclette’s Donation Drive for Share the Warmth is here
The holiday season always brings out the best of our Pointe-St-Charles community. As neighbours gather for music, warm drinks, and festive moments at the café, we’re reminded that this time of year is also about looking out for one another. It’s a moment to slow down, connect, and, when possible, give back.
This December, Café Ma Bicyclette is proud to support Share the Warmth through a community donation drive — collecting canned goods and non-perishables right here at the café, and hosting our own online fundraising page for those who prefer to donate digitally.
Together, we can help make the season a little brighter for families and neighbours across Pointe-Saint-Charles.
Who Is Share the Warmth?
Share the Warmth is a long-standing community organization in Pointe-Saint-Charles working to reduce food insecurity, support children and youth, and build a more connected, resilient neighbourhood. Their “Share the Holiday Spirit” campaign is one of their biggest initiatives of the year — helping provide food, warmth, and essential resources to individuals and families during a time when needs are often highest.
Through their food bank, after-school cooking programs, community lunches, and youth services, Share the Warmth supports thousands of people every year. The Holiday Spirit campaign ensures that households can enjoy nourishing meals and feel cared for throughout the season.
How Your Donations Help
Thanks to strong partnerships and bulk purchasing power, Share the Warmth can stretch every dollar into more than five dollars’ worth of food. Even small contributions have a big impact.
Their fundraising model includes “food boxes” that represent the cost of feeding households for a week or more:
-
40 $ — feeds one person for a week
-
75 $ — feeds a family of four for a week
-
100 $ — supports a larger household
-
175 $ — feeds a family of six for an entire month
These are virtual food boxes — symbolic donation levels that directly fund the purchase of fresh produce, staples, and essentials for community members.
And yes: tax receipts are issued automatically for all online donations.
How You Can Support Through the Café
We’re offering two ways to contribute, depending on what feels right for you:
1. Drop off canned goods and non-perishables at the café
We’re collecting staples such as:
-
canned vegetables, soups, beans, tomatoes
-
pasta, rice, lentils
-
nut butters
-
shelf-stable milk
-
oatmeal, cereals, and other essentials
Simply bring your items during café hours, and we’ll handle the rest.
2. Donate through our café’s fundraising page
For those who prefer to give online, we’ve set up a dedicated donation link through Share the Warmth’s Zeffy platform.
Every contribution directly supports food security programs in Pointe-Saint-Charles, and tax receipts are available.
Thank You for Helping Us Share the Holiday Spirit
Whether you contribute a few cans, a monetary donation, or simply help us spread the word, you’re part of something meaningful. As a neighbourhood café, we’re continually inspired by the generosity and heart of the community around us.
Together, we can make sure more families feel cared for, nourished, and supported this holiday season.
From all of us at Café Ma Bicyclette — thank you for sharing the warmth.
